Infant and well-child visits

1 Week

Babies are usually checked by a health care provider within the first week of going home from the hospital. You can expect this service from us. At this first visit we will:

  • Take a full history of your pregnancy and delivery to identify potential problems requiring close monitoring

  • Weigh your baby and measure your baby’s length and head circumference.

  • Check for signs of jaundice.

  • Check on how feeding is going for you and your baby.

  • Do a general health exam.

  • Ask how the family is adjusting to the new baby.

  • Complete any screening tests that were not done at the hospital.

Our service will also provide a follow-up at 1month, the end of the neonatal period for babies with growth concerns or families with additional queries.

2, 4, 6, and 12 months with optional 9 and 15 month visits

Each of these visits can be expected to last approximately 20 minutes. We will perform tasks and ask general medical questions including:

  • Any specific problems that your baby has or you as parents are facing.

  • Your child’s eating habits, sleep habits.

  • Developmental milestones, language milestones, and social and emotional issues.

  • A physical examination.

  • Checking weight, height and head circumference.

  • Giving any necessary vaccines.

  • We will also answer any questions you may have.

  • Plans for your child's education.

  • We will also answer any questions you may have.

Once your child is 5 years old, we recommend that your child see either your family doctor or us every 1 to 2 years until 18 years of age.
